4l80e connector clearance issue

Default 4l80e connector clearance issue

I'm doing a 4l80e swap in my 96 trans am and have run into an issue with the main connector on the harness not having enough clearance to plug into the connector on the rear of transmission. It hits the floor pan/body cross-member and really don't want to start cutting holes. I guess my question is there any sort of adapter available, or has anyone else run into this issue? What did you do?

No personal experience, but have read many posts where people literally do use a big hammer to bang out the tunnel a bit; no need to cut a hole. Also, they usually cut off the "ears" of the bell housing.

there is a 90 deg plug, just don't know if its avail
What I mean is the Compushift controller harness uses a 90 deg plug
whether its avail or just made for them I don't know

That's what I was thinking was some sort of 90° plug. Does anyone know if one is available and from where? I already have the trans mounted so I can't really bang out the trans tunnel unfortunately.

90* plug isn't the answer for your problem. It is just a plastic guide that bends the wiring immediately out of the main connector.
You will have to cut or hammer the body brace.

No way around it, get your air hammer with a blunt tip and a sawzall. Mine looks similar to the picture posted above.

Thanks. It figures Id ask a question that has been answered a million times. I actually already read that entire thread but didnt remember seeing the pic of where to cut. I definitely wanna do all the cutting and hammering before the trans is under the car.
