4T65E-HD torque converter
I have a 2007 Monte Carlo ss with the 5.3L v8 and am on my third torque converter. They keep cracking where it slides over the input shaft. Nobody seems to know what's causing it. Have had the whole transmission torn apart and checked. Any ideas?

Don't have it here but it's a tiny Crack on the protruding hole that slides over the input shaft onto the transmission. Hard to see but enough that it leaks bad

Just got a torque converter from precision through triple edge. The inside hub area is all chewed up on the old one. Thinking whoever put the last one on didn't know what they were doing. Bought it over the summer but the converter we pulled off was a reman factored gm one

That's the spot. The inside of it was all chewed up, looked like the input shaft was grinding on it or whoever installed the last one didn't know what they were doing and forced it on. Bought it used over the summer but the converter we pulled off was a gm reman u factored one so this makes #3 for this car

Is it chewed up on the inside or outside of the hub? Check to make sure that where the hub rides is not chewed up also. Also check that both the dowel pins are in the back of the engine where the trans bolts to.
