The parts that require cutting or notching both before and after the tranny goes in. I see the pics in this thread of the cut outs but it would be great to see why cutting is required. Seeing the cuts mate up to the tranny would put it in perspective and pics would be greatly appreciated. Also your fan process on the shift hole cover and how you moumnt the shifter to it. Really anything else you feel is worth sharing would be valuable

Yea definetly will take pictures of it. I havent made the cover yet. But i will be just grabbing some metal from home depot and using the rubber cover from the t56 setup and riveting. My shifter came with mounting hardware that i will mount to either the plate or since it will probably be to flimsy i will make a bracket for it to mount it to the sides. Ill make sure to take pics of everything for ya.

Not related to my tranny swap directly but my Precision 6766's came in last night. Another step closer to the start of the swaps (4l80 and HS v2 Twin).

Awesome man farther along than I am. That part that you cut out, what was that to clearance? Its hard to tell in the pic what that room is needed for. I know from researching that cutting will be necessary and in that spot but I'm not 100% sure on why.

Definitely good to know. Maybe its needed for people who don't cut the "ears" off of the trans. I hade Jake cut mine off when I ordered my trans from them. Hopefully that was done and I can avoid cutting there.

I'll add what I had to do for my 4l80e swap:
In regards to clearancing for the harness plug, I took an air hammer and went to town on the area where the plug would hit. It dented in the metal just enough so that the plug would fit and no cutting was needed.

Ill check it out again for you, i cant really remember what was hitting what right now. I can tell you as stated above, the plug were the harness plugs in to at the gear selector did hit some lines but with a little bit of finagling it can squeeze in there i just have to plug my harness up to it now. This weekend it will need to be tuned so i can start it hopefully and then i just have to wait for my D/S to come back.

Very nice man love the Tahoe too lol I've always been a fan of those. Nothing really new to report on my side. Nearing completion of parts collecting for this and my huron speed v2 twin kit. Just some hose & fittings and a griffin radiator, 00 or better gauge wire for the battery relo, and I believe I'm done with parts. Thanks to a fellow forum member I might also be looking to pick up an AC relocation bracket along with an alternator relocation bracket to mount both of those up on the heads to make room for the turbo kit.

Things have slowed on my end for a while. Looking to sell my house and to upgrade that so my spending is a little on the cautious side till thats squared away. If things go well I'll have more room to attempt this (currently in a tiny 1 car garage w/ no room for anything really). Glad you're making progress though man, thats awesom. I'm excited for ya. Looking forward to your vid, good luck man.

Thanks man. So first things first before i forget. The reason for denting in the side of the tunnel is for the plug on the trans. Luckily everything was very close for me so i didnt have to deal with that yesterday. But when you do yours i would make sure you make quite a big dent. Engine is all hooked up now so now only have to hook up lines on tranny, shifter, and drill a hole for the trans temp gauge. Once thats done we can start it.

Hey guys this thread has really helped a lot! I'm in the same boat as y'all and am trying to get things figured out to stream line my process when my trans gets here.

So far I have
Yank 3400 converter
Lokar dipstick
Speartech 4l80e conversion harness
BMR crossmember
Tci flex plate with arp hardware

Waiting on my trans to get here now went with a jakes stage 5 aswell with the d3 transbrake

This thread really answered a lot of small questions like the plate for the shifter, driveshaft, the places to cut, and the trans mount.

Did y'all just order a trans mount bushing for a 4l80e?

Also I'll be running a stock shifter does anyone know if the stock cable will work with the 80e?

Yes as far as i know the stock cable works people have used stock shifters before. I cant remember if i just picked up a t56 one or a 4l80e one, they are both pretty much the same i think, definetly dont go easy on the trans tunnel, dent that sucker in big time. I had to constantly drop my trans to get to the plugs.
