Default 4l60e crapping out after dyno

Just finished some mods. Was having dyno 'd tranny started slipping and not wanting to shift into 3rd. Was fresh yank 3600 stall and bm tranny cooler was pulling 430 rwhp 400tq. I must be beyond stock 4l60e capabilities? Or my 55k tranny just wore out.

How many pulls in a row did you do? Heat kills...but 430/400rw is a bit much for stock tranny IMHO. I roasted a stock tranny on bolt-on power (previous car). I went for a Level 6 tranny before I went cam and spray in my current car.

There's also a possibility the converter was not fully seated, did you measure converter gap.

Pretty strange for it to just go out all of the sudden, do you have a temp sensor in the pan? Hopefully they didn't overheat the Trans on the dyno

The face of the base feet of the converter and flex plate gap should be between 1/16" & 3/16"

No temp sensor. Probably should get one. No leaks visible but tranny fluid very low. Oil and coolant visibly seem ok. What would leak internally but show no external signs?

If it's driven on low fluid it can't make the proper pressure to function properly.. And can cause a lot of heat to build up really fast..

Do you have a transmission cooler at least?

Did they drain your Trans prior to the converter install? If so they didn't perform a proper transmission fill if the level is low like you say.

There are a lot of variables at play

I had an 01 Firehawk years ago w a G5X2, ported 241's, SS3600, Fast 92 and all supporting bolt on's. It made 430/411 tot he wheels... I had 90K mi on that car and she drove, shifted like a dream on the stock 4L60E...

Just last week I installed a Yank SS3600 w full bolt ons on my 115K SS.... I am running a deep truck pan, B&M cooler... Like the hawk, it shifts like a dream... Adding the G5X2 to it in a few months along w some ported 243's.... LOW ON TRANS FLUID is not a good thing... That, along with the dyno can be bad... Look at the bright side.. Now you can build a trans w some nice parts.

How's the tune??? That too is a factor..... Was it locked/unlocked on the dyno?

Was planning on upgrading tranny anyway just hoping tc is not hurt. Was put in just before dyno. I guess I'll find out Monday.
