Default Deciding on 9 inch rear gear choice....

[/url]

Combo - 5.3 btr stage 2 4.8 turbo cam, vs 7875 turbo, th400 w 3500 budget stall , ford 9 inch detroit locker w 4.11 currently... 276 60 15 tires in back

I know my rear gearing isn't right for my combo or a turbo car in general

What brands/ratios does everyone recommend? I am leaning towards 3.25 motive gears

Currently 3400 rpm or so highway cruising

Car is mostly street, but want to do some strip when it is all dialed in

Hi Sampson sweet ride,

I would think somewhere in the mid 3's would be well suited for ya. 3.50/3.55 somewhere in there.

What is a 3500 'budget stall' ? Is the budget stall typical in the sense that most budget stalls are 'loose'(inefficient-too much slippage) and then hurting your highway cruising and future strip top end trap speed runs.
Based on your facts given,3.25s' would put you about 2700rpm and 3.55s' at 2900.
How much power you making ?
Gears(higher numerical) are an equalizer when you're not making a lot of power, when you have power a lower numerical ratio is all that's needed.

I am around 500 tire at the moment on my lm7, but haven't turned it up much yet and it is RIICH in boost lol.... I have an L33 on the engine stand that I am gapping rings and hoping to run like 18lbs on going in sometime this winter etc...

Budget stall is a Freakshow performance convertor...

I am not hooking up on the street as the power hits violently....

You're obviously not going to run with those tires with more power, or the power you have now.
Take into consideration future tire size when selecting rear gear,

275/60r15 is plenty of tire for that power level. There are 2000hp cars hooking on them so I really don't think he needs to go bigger.

yeah with a 400 and 28" tires I'd say to go 3:25 gears. and keep the locker for sure.

Hard to believe that converter is able to couple up good behind a turbo motor, seems like you would be blowing right through it. I'd be nervous running a cheap converter in a turbo application, but anyway, if it were me I'd be around 3.00ish for the gear. Just for reference, I use a 2.73 and absolutely love them.

That 275/60r15 will hook, don't even think of comparing it to something like 275/40/17 drag radial.
As far as Freakshow performance convertor,it could be a very good convertor. Excellent reviews.
