Default 4L65e pan with a drain plug

I'm looking for a steel oil pan for my 4L65e that has a drain plug. Many websites say their pan will fit the 60/65e but they are only 2 7/8" deep. My OE pan is 3 1/8" deep.
I don't want a deep pan as the OE pan is already hanging a little below the frame rails.
Can any of you suggest a pan that is in the $50-75 range?

Why not just add a plug to your current pan ?

I'm not that good at TIG welding yet, I'd probably blow a hole thru the pan.

This is what I used for mine. Drill hole and tighten down. Use red locitite.

We have an option for you with a drain plug if you didn't want to modify your stock pan. It is Dorman part number RNB-265-811 and it has a 3 in. depth. It is just shy of your stock 3 1/8 in. pan but a little deeper then the stock 4L60E pans that you have found at 2 7/8 in.

Umm, the plug that 98CayenneT/A suggested or the Dorman pan?

Summit, got any other OE size pans with a plug other than Dorman for my 4L65e?
I've looked at a lot of pans, most don't say it's for the 4L65e. I assume the 4L60 has the same body pattern?

4L60E and 4L65E use the same pan.

We do not have another steel pan with a drain plug that would match the pan you have described. The 4L60E and 4L65E pans do share the same gasket and pan rail shape. However, there was a shallow pan that was around 2 3/8 in. that was flat on the bottom. Then there was a deep pan that was 3 1/8 in. deep in the front with a shallow step in the rear and from what you have described you would have the factory deep pan. The shallow pan pictured is our Summit brand part number SUM-G3886B.The deep pan pictured is the Dorman RNB-265-811 that we previously recommended.

Shallow pan which has same depth front to rear.

Deep pan which is deeper in the front with a shallow step in the rear.

I'd need to look at my tranny to make sure that low part of the pan (upper right corner in pic) won't be a problem.
My pan doesn't have that indent in it.
The back side of the Dorman is like my pan.

It might fit. That indent in the pan would be on the front right corner (where the solenoid is pulled out).

Dont do it! They all leak at some time or another. I see all kinds of drain plug bullshit come through our shop and most never work correctly. If you need to change the fluid pull the pan,you need to change the filter anyway.

I did buy the B&M drain plug a few days ago, it hasn't arrived yet.
Today I saw the Dorman pan on line at Advance Auto (sorry Summit) with a 25% discount and free shipping, the pan was only $32. I bought it too.
Got company coming for the Ballon Festival so I won't get anything done for a while.

I didn't call Summit, never thought about it, I doubt they would have given me free shipping too.
I've spent a ton with both Summit and Jegs so I don't feel bad about throwing a little $$ to Adv Auto.

As an FYI we do have our "beat-a-price" guarantee where we will beat the advertised to the door price of a competitor by a dollar. In this case we would have honored the 25% discount at Advanced Auto and the free shipping. In the future if you wanted to check on a "beat-a-price" just contact us and we can check into it for you. View this link to view all of the details on our "beat-a-price" guarantee.
