Formula vs Camaro 4l60e
Car was a 94 formula , driveline swapped into 83 jag, just got it all in and running nicely, but trans is giving me issues, if I drive like a normal person its fine, if i drive it at all aggressively i get a bang lose all forward gears amd trans is rattling. Put it in park and back To drive and forward gears return.. fluid is fine, anyway, pretty sure its toast, so pricing a rebuilt one and need to know if theres a difference between the Camaro amd firebird transmission.... i would think they are identical, but theres a 200 dollar price difference.. any help greatly appreciated

The '94 is an odd and unique year that will only work with PCM's specifically for the '94 year.
Please tell us what model PCM/ECM you have; if its not what came with the engine and trans combo (??) then we might recommend a newer year.

pcm is from same car, 94 formula, using scan9495 i can pull up vin of the car, however it seems it has a 95 bin file, as i am getting the 83 code up, which is pwm and unless someone swapped in a 95 transmission, i dont have it on 94, also wire 6 on the blue connector is missing so no connection for the pwm solenoid regardless...
i have been ordered a rebuilt 94 trans, and pcm will be going back to Moe Bailey for some tweaks, and will have him check the bin and make sure its right for the 94..

As Mrvedit stated saying... 1994 model year 4L60E transmissions are a one-year only production.
Actually; all the following model years are one-year only units...
1993, 1994, 1995, partially 1996 (Early run/ serial numbered units), and partially 1997 (Late run/ serial numbered units).
There are some other odd-ball years and models much later on.

If your tuner can update the bin to support a '96 4L60E, I would recommend that as you could then use any year 4L60E from between '96 and '06. (Except from a Vette.)
EDIT: As vorteciron pointed out (while writing at the same time), there are a few oddballs even in '96 and '97. With a '96 PCM support you would have 10+ years of 4L60E and even 4L65E to choose from. Even '05 - '07 4L6xE with ISS (Input Speed Sensor) can be use because your PCM/Harness would ignore that sensor. However somewhere around '08/'09 a significant electrical change was made and those would be incompatible.

Ok. So i cancelled the new transmission. Amidst miscommunication snd straight up lies, after 6 weeks, its still hasnt been built... so mew plan is to yank it out, check to make sure its the right year and find a local shop to rebuild..
Hot it pulled today, and is indeed a 94, however have found a couple of concerns that could he my issue...
First thing is when torque converter is unbolted and slid back, i have a heavy 5/16 gap, also i was able to physically wobble the torque converter around, however there were no leaks.
the other issue is at other end, i have all sorts of play in output shaft, easily moves 3/8 -1/2 around, but no play to speak of back and forth... am i on tight track? Or do you think theres something else amiss too??? Quite a bit of friction plate dust ( if thats what you call it) in pan, but other than that inside is amazingly clean!!!
any input greatly appreciated

You can make any year 4l60e work with any year computer.

trans is going off to be rebuilt, so now im.only.looking for clues as to what trans shop will find, dont want to pay for a full rebuild if my issue is simply.too large of a gap beteen torque converter and flex plate... hopefully that makes sense.
