Default L92/4L80E - flexplate?

What flexplate do I need between a L92 and a 4L80E.

Is there anything I need to know about the converter?

Did you try reading the sticky at the top of the forum?
ACDelco Spacer and flat flexplate. That's it.

Ive read all of them at least twice but Im stupid so I figured Id ask as well.

Me and flexplates do not get along, I know its a simple thing but for me its been a problem. I have a long history here and on other sites which demonstrates exactly how difficult they have been for me and subsequently how simple getting the right FP is. Im about ready to order a converter so I just wanted to make sure before I pulled the trigger as I could get a long snout or stick with a standard one.

Yeah... do not use the stock torque-converter.
There is nothing wrong with the OEM converter (unlike with the 6L80/ 90 torque-converter, never use a OEM unit).

However they are too large and heavy for a performance application.
Too much stress on the transmission.

I'm either doing a Circle D or a Freakshow, 245mm 3200-3400 stall should be about right for my setup.

Haven't used Circle D yet but lots of folks like them so I might give them a try.
I have used 2 Freakshows and they are a great value. The latest (4L80E) might be a little too loose (better than too tight, for converters anyway) but he offers a free adjustment so I do plan to send it in when I get around to dropping the trans.

I dont consider freakshow converters junk at all, I went 9.8@136 with a 1.3 60 with one. Thats about a text book run, enough bite and slip where you need it. Thing also lasted 5 years, I made a ton of passes and went thru a ton of bottles each season with it.

You can get a better converter but for the money they are tuff to beat.

I have on behind my JY 4.8 turbo now as well. Had it specd at 3600, it flashes around 3900 and I think I could have gone 3200-3400 anyway which is why Ill send it back to tighten it up a bit. That is work they will do for free, all you knew to do is pay for the ride there. Its a single disc 10 and I paid $750 to my door 2ish years ago.

The reason Im asking is I heard alot of good thing about Circle D so Im interested in understanding if they are any better and why. Looks like roughly a $200 diff in price. And circle d is like $100 less than Coan which by all accounts is one of the top converters going.

Coan stuff is not bad at all...

The ONLY products that have worked well in high power cars for me... are converters from Neal Chance.

I have some pictures that are horrifying.
There's a reason they are priced the way they are.

And to the OP...people go 9's on stock 4l80e converters. It wasn't recommended. Everyone knows it's a bad idea...but it's been done.
So, I'm sure freakshow converters have been fast. So have B&M and TCI and everybody knows what kind of performance and quality to expect there. So an ET alone isn't really good enough to hand your hat on for a converter.
