I have acquired a low mileage 4l65e transmission with mild stall converter for and LS swap. Of course I'll change the filter etc. What diy upgrades should I do before installing the trans. Specific parts and name brands would be helpful....this is going into daily driver so nothing too radical.

The first thing I do with these units is throw away the 5-Pinion Planetary Gears (I generally tell people not to waste extra $$$ on a 4L65E vs a 4L60E).
Purchase a good used/ reconditioned set of 4-Pinion Planets.
Please post more details about the vehicle (like type and weight for starters) and the engine (approx. Power, intended use, Etc)...

This is a mildly modified L33 installed in a 98 S10 step-side pickup, 3:42 / 8.6 rear end. It will be a daily driver, I don't want to go into the trans. just a few diy'ers like shift kit etc.

That being the case just install a TransGo HD-2-C shift kit and a deep truck pan and call it a day.
So get the transgo hd-2 shift kit...should i get the trans go servo or does the kit solve that problem?
When you say TransGo servo are you referring to the 2nd piston apply servo? Yes if you don't already have the Corvette 093 piston that would be a good part to up grade while installing the shift kit along with a Sonnax 77787-02K extra long servo pin and seals. You can also install these Sonnax parts in the valve body along with the TransGo stuff.
Sonnax parts.
77964-08K O-ring end plugs
77754-35K Forward and Reverse Abuse Vale Kit (you will need 2 of these)
77754-41 HD 2-3 Shift Valve
-The Longest GM apply-pin is less and less available (GM is phasing-out many parts for this transmission currently). Not Good.
-The GM apply pin removed two sealing rings (and grooves) from the pin (seals nearly as well as with the 2 seals but also cant have a seal fail). Good.
-The GM apply pin does experience some wear in one location in the servo. Not Good. (The Sonnax apply-pin helps this issue).

-The Sonnax apply-pin is the Longest produced. Good.
-The Sonnax apply-pin adds an O-Ring (and groove) to help with the wear at the servo -The Sonnax apply-pin. Good.
-The Sonnax apply-pin uses an OLD GM design with two white sealing-rings that were removed from the GM pin (easy failure point). Not Good.
There is a solution that can be added to the Sonnax pin.
It is a Solid Teflon Sealing-Ring instead of a "Split-Cut" Sealing-Ring (you will rarely find "split-cut seals as they suck. Not to be mistaken for "Scarf-Cut").
These better seals are GM THM200-4R Governor Sealing-Rings.
They can be purchased individually for about a dollar from Trans. Parts Houses (like Cobra Transmission).
Part number: 54189BT.
The red seals in the image below are the better seals that I have mentioned:
