Default Transmission Rebuild or Swap?

I got a 4L60 Automatic transmission that lost 3-4, been looking for rebuilders in Dallas/Fort Worth Area but seems like it might be easier for me to go with junkyard transmission - what are y'alls thoughts? Any recommendation on good rebuilder in Dallas/Fort Worth area? Texas Drivetrain Performance only does manual so

thanks!

Precision Transmission is in Amarillo, (I know you said Dallas) but I would at least reach out. Search through their YT and you'll see they know what they're doing.

Beware of Precision Transmission their YT videos are a joke. Uses outdated products. Raybestos Z Pack 3-4 clutches do not hold much HP, any good 4L60e builder will not use them

Curious, what specifically makes their videos a joke? Maybe this guy is just looking for transmission rebuild, not trying to build a high HP holding transmission?

Sure they use some older stuff, like you said Z-pak, and the HD2 kit, but again, maybe they're stuff is for the average dude, not the high hp guys?

He doesn't call the parts by their proper name, and I don't think I have ever seen a video of him assembling a transmission.

Yeah, I know he doesn't do a lot of assembly videos, especially of 80E's, (no one wants to give away the secrets I guess), but he has done a few assembly videos of glides and 350's and 400's.

I dunno, seems like a nice dude, and I know he doesn't do takeouts because he wants to make sure that the customers cars run and drive, which helps from the guys who don't know how to install a torque converter, or make sure its spaced onto the pump correctly.

I'm not throwing shade at his character, he seems like a fun guy to hang out with. But being a nice dude doesn't mean that he builds a good transmission.

Why would you suggest a such thing?
Precision transmissions is what we use to laugh at here.
As bbond stated, they dont even call the parts right names. They block the 4th acum the old, wrong way. They never touch the separator plate. they deleting comments from theyr YT channel who criticise them.

Also, they have teared down a 4l60e they built and blamed the customer for using bigger tires like thats the reason it failed after few weeks with burnt to metal 3/4.

I would not recommend rebuilding there. Because even if it goes right, theyr methods are super old, or if the tranny they build will fail, you will be blamed for using it wrong.

I'll drop cline a line and let you know that you are in need of a builder in your area. I still need to take a business trip to TX and stop by and see Cline and Jake along with many others that have helped me build my knowledge on GM transmissions. I'm fascinated with the topic and still so much to learn after doin a single 4L80E build. Next step is to pull apart this performabuilt stage 2 4L60E and make sure it's in tip top shape before I sell it. Sure it works fine but want to make sure the next owner is getting something that's not worn.
