4L60E Dipstick Stopper

Does the dipstick bottom out on the dipstick stopper in the 4L60E?
I'm trying to get my proper dipstick alignment/depth with a new dipstick tube. I was thinking I could temporarily shorten my tube, bottom out the dipstick, then measure how much longer the tube needs to be and lengthen the tube.
Does this make sense or will my fluid level be way off on the dipstick?

Mark full fluid level on the dipstick level with the oil pan rail or just a little above the rail.

From what I read, the way you describe is the proper way to do it. But I'm curious if my way will work as well.
My transmission is in my truck and I don't want to remove the pan if I can avoid it.

how do you know the full mark was correct in the first place. why are you changing the dip stick tube? my experience with dipstick stoppers is they don't stop the dipstick, only if it were to break off. ie: there is a gap

I don't know that it was correct in the first place. But I had to change the tube because the OEM steel tube doesn't fit in my Mazda. So I cut off the bottom 4" and the top 4" and I have rubber hydraulic hose in between. I was thinking that the way I described might be easier than measuring the overall length.
