Swap 6 speed to automatic transmission 95 TransAm, wanting to switch a the manual to Auto trans for bracket racing.
I've seen all kinds of post of people doing the opposite. My question is what all needs to be done to do so. Read somewhere that the trans is electric and would have to be reprogrammed with a computer??

Wiring harness change
mount

center console
neutral safety switch
pcm calibration
flexplate
converter
?driveshaft? not sure if they are same length t56 vs 4l60e
pedals (unless you want to leave an unused clutch pedal in the car)
etc
it's not any small change
if you're a serious enough bracket racer you likely already know the 4l60e is not the most popular bracket racer transmission

If you use an electronically controlled transmission. The transmission wiring harness will have to be wired into the PCM and then that PCM will have to be tuned/calibrated to operate that transmission.
If you use a non-electronically controlled transmission. You would only need to wire in a park/neutral switch and the PCM would not have to tuned/calibrated for the transmission.
