Default trans temp gauge mounting options

I just bought a stall, and im fixing to buy a trans cooler, & temp gauge. where can I install the gauge in the car (2000 camaro)? I know the a-piller is one spot but I would rather mount it some place else if possible. lets see some pics or hear about your custom install.

if you decide to go with an a-pillar. you might wanna wait and get a "dual-pillar" to run two of them. i really cant think of a "cool" spot seeing thats its a camaro. i have mine in the airvents, but also i have a TA

i've got my trans temp gauge in a single a-pillar pod. it looks pretty cool and its relatively easy to do because you can run some of the wires straight down to the fusebox which is right on the driver side of the dash...simplifies the wiring a bit.

mines also in the pillar pod in plain veiw, but i thought about if i had a way to do it I would put it in the hole/area right below the A/C controls (some people have stuff there though) right above the ash tray.

I was thinking about that spot on the way to work this morining, Im going to measure and see if theres enough room for a gauge and the wireing back there.

That is where I plan to mount a vacuum gauge, the storage area next to the cigarette lighter on the left. Use the convertibles panel that goes in the 'box', it comes with a switch (my line lock will go there as well). Have a shop drill out that area to fit a 2-1/16" diameter gauge in there. A 2-5/8" diameter gauge will not fit. I have my panel already modified, just need a VDO gauge (matches the OEM instruments nicely) and install it. Good luck!

Oh, this will be on the SS, the Z28 (race car) will have a custom gauge panel.

Do you know where to put the probe for the guage?

There is a blank plug on the drivers side of the tranni. It's a copper plug right about the **** linkage. The probe threada right into it. Very easy install, and you don't have to worry about tapping any lines. When you have the car jacked up on the drivers side there won't be any fluid coming out... but when you let it back down the probe will be perfect for the fluid level.

Heres mine...CNCd out of aluminum, textured to match the console, then painted with Plasti-Coat trim paint. It matches better in person that the pic shows....

I cut out the area where the gauges would be, removing the lighter and box. Then I cut a piece of plastic, painted it flat black and glued it to the console. Fairly simple.

Sorry for not responding sooner, here is the GM part number to the plate: 10411284
I'll post up the picture tonight, I had a very 'hectic' weekend to say the least.
