gears are:
First:
4.02
Second:
2.36
Third:
1.53
Fourth:
1.15
Fifth:
0.85
Sixth:
0.67

Reverse:
-3.06

For a vette/ GTO That would work nicely on the street with 2.73 gears, but it is a long drop from 1st to 2nd. Personnally, I rather see something more like this:

3.36
2.45
1.62
1.15
.85
.60

Put a 3.42 rear end and combine with the current 6.0l engine and even with a small tq converter that would be fast on the street and cross the quarter mile pretty high in the rpm band. And you would have nice low highway revs.

Damn, that would sure be nice. I wonder when it would be available for public sale.

I'd still probably need to beef it up for my final goals, but it sure would be nice to run 6 close gears and a smaller torque converter...

I wonder what kind of computer you'd need to run it. I can't imagine our LS1/6 PCM's would do the job.

They had one of these on display at the NAIAS show. I got a pic of it, but still need to resize it. I'll post it tomorrow...

The 32-bit transmission controller is common to all variants and is located entirely within the transmission housing

The one on the right is the FWD model.
The other doesn't look that much bigger than the 4L80 to me. But then again, I'm not a tranny mechanic either

It's the diameter of it that has me impressed.

Here's what a 4L80-E and 4L60-E look like side-by-side.:

That 6L80-E is half way between the 4L80-E and Allison 1000 in terms of size!

The Allison is a heavy piece of machinery. We changed one at the shop last week in an hd. It felt a good 50-100 pounds heavier than a 4l80. You'd better have your brass ***** if you try moving it yourself.

Hmmmm..... the ending gearing is not that much better than the 4L60E:

First:
3.06

Second:
1.63

Third:
1.0

Fourth:
0.7

It seems to be a 4L60E with one steeper gear up front and and extra one between 3rd and 4th. I would have like to seen the final overdrive gear be like the T56 one around 0.50ish Pretty much looks like a truck transmission.

Keith
