Trans temp fitting on 4L60E?

Trans temp fitting on 4L60E? Is there a temperature sender fitting on the case of the 4L60E somewhere, or am I going to have to tap into one of the cooler lines to read the temp?
Do you recall the Jegs part #? I need to install a trans temp sensor when I install a B&M cooler. I guess in the lines somewhere. Where is the best place to install a temp sensor to get an accurate reading?

I have mine installed in a pressure port (A4) on the side of the transmission, and it is dead on accurate when compaired to the auto-tap reading. The sensor size to my gauge is 1/8 NPT

Look for your transmission linkage, and go half way up the casing, you will find a threaded plug in the casing, that would be it, it is very easy to remove.

i've got mine in the test port too....works great. the temp is probably slightly different then it is in the cooler lines or in the pan, but who's to say which one is "accurate".
you're not necessarily looking for the one that will read highest.

itll be easier to remove the shift linkage if i can remember correctly. that just pops off with a screwdriver when you take the plug out youll get some drips of fluid. dont worry though

I got it put in today, temps between 165 and 180, depending on freeway/city driving. Seems like a huge difference....is this what I should be expecting?

Great info/thread and thanks for the link to the install. So, do most mfg's use a 1/8" sender for their trans temp gauges or is this just Autometer? I like digital guages (Cyberdyne possibly) but not sure if the sensor will fit the pressure port you all are talking about.
Lastly, I was thinking about buying a dual or triple gauge A-pillar pod, however, the Summit catalog lists 1997-2002 (T-top). I do not have a T-top car. Will it work/fit a hard top car?

take another look and see if you can find just the pod. also i recommend a dual pod over the triple. i switched from a single to a dual and i couldnt believe how close to my head the upper gauge sat. i can't even imagine how high up/close a third one would be on top of it. might be a little annoying.
