how much power is too much for a stock a4?

Default how much power is too much for a stock a4?

stock a4 with 3600 stall how much power b4 it starts to hurt the trans?

beware stock trannys are ****. Mine is going and I have stock power. Racing from a roll KILLS them.

are there mods or is there a rebuild kit for the stock a4 to handle say 500 rwhp what needs done to handle this power?

I'd say 400RWHP with a shift kit and cooler would be the max. But you can break it when they are stock too.

so for 500 rwhp im gonna need what ? hardend imput output shafts? anything else?

With that much power i'd think you'd only be putting off the enevitable with a 4l60e, i'd go with a th400 and maybe a quality overdrive setup. -Jim

I think FLP sells kits to beef up the tranny for that kind of power in the 460. Not sure what is all included.

Looking at the parts that came out of mine, I'd say 400rwhp exceeds the limit for a stock tranny. Things were starting to show signs of abuse. I had the front planetary replaced, band, servos, clutches, etc & my tranny guru thinks it will be fine. As for the shafts, if you plan to hit it REAL hard, like a 4400 stall & 12" slicks, then yes, I'd do those too.
