So, how do you choose? FLP or Yank transmissions??
I was curious how you would chose? Are there any big differences?
Where can you buy and look for information on FLP's tranny? I cant find it any.
Maybe in my future I might need one and just want to get a heads up.
Thanks
Casey

If i were you i would go FLP. In on my 8th Yank
Tranny since last June. They only last few weks at first. But since then the one i got now has a vacuum modulator in it and this one actually works only broke once when i broke the front pump in half. Other than that i wish i had it to do over again. But i did get good at changig trannys. 2hrs and 15min in and out on jackstands.

I was just curious as what is the weak link in the 4L60E that Yank is putting out? Thanks for your input on this interesting topic on Trannys.

My first two were gone within 200 miles of driving. The clutches went south on them. My last one lasted just past my 3-month warranty, and the initial diagnosis was that the front pump was gone. I never did find out if that was the case.

WOW, ou have had some SERIOUS bad luck with your trannies.
My Yank tranny has been a ROCK. I may have problems with some other stuff on the car. But the Yank tranny? not a peep, not a blip, nada.
It is the ONE drivetrain item that has been ROCK SOLID.
I am a VERY satisfied customer.

It hasent last long enough to spray yet! But the one i got in it now seems to do real good, it shifts fine, shifts into 3rd under WOT and doesnt bang the limiter. All they added to it was a vacumme modulator it it worked like a stock one. The weak link was the 3-4clutch pack mike said the cam didnt pull enough vacuum and therefore it would not send enough line pressure therefore buring the clutches and fluid up. The other problem is the pumps breaking. This has happened twice. But it seems they finaly have their **** toghter now and everything is holding. But the only time it breaks is after i go to the drag strip, or 2 hours away from town.

The Yank is actually a 200-R4, right?
BTW, 2 hours 15 minutes in and out is fast, especially on jackstands

Re: So, how do you choose? FLP or Yank transmissions??
I was pissed at first, but i got over it beings i couldnt do anything about it, but keep gettin new trannys every 3-4 weeks. I hated installing them at first but its not bad now. I have really access to the tanny. i have longtubes and true duals. I just have to 1/4 inch bolts holding the exhaust on with u tabs supplied wth the dynatechs. I can drop the whole system in about 2 minutes. I use air tools takeing it aboat so it isnt so bad. The latest one about a month and a half ago only took 1hr to take out and 1hr 15 min to reinstall and completelly finish. Only help i need is to guide the tranny dipstick into the hole, and i can do the rest myself. The are no Tq arm mounts on the tranny sice i have a MAC TQ arm. Just 8 Bellhusing bolts,2 starter bolts, 6 converter bolts and the tranny crossmember.

Coming from the guy running tens on the stock rear. I ran a 12.80 and exploded my rear in an A4 so I'm just one of those examples that us A4 guys shouldn't get cocky about our rears lasting forever.
I think Raugh is just lucky though...
