I'm in the middle of mine right now. Just getting started really. I have the trans unhooked, its just held up by a jack. I'm going to start the drop wednesday and hopefully finish this weekend. I have to do it a little at a time because how much I work. I havn't got to the hard stuff yet but it shouldn't be too hard. Right now the only problem I have is the drive shaft seems to be stuck in the joint by the rear. I already took off the bolts but couldn't get it to slide out. I need to mess with it a little but didn't have time. I hope some people that have done it before will chime in to give us some advise/tips.

The only hard part is Unhooking the Converter from Flexplate. I used a flathead Swrew driver to hold the flexplate so i could brake lose the Bolts on the TC. Mine where lock tighted red so it takes some Time and effort. Over all an easy job. . Gl its kinda easy once you get done .

Well I got the trans out last night. Not to bad, the worst part was breaking it free from the block. It was stuck on there good and then when it came off I dropped it on my chest and spilled fluid all over myself(do not do it like this, use a tranny jack). Other than that its been easy so far. I should be able to finish it up saturday.

I feel bad for you man, that had to suck.

Its really a straight forward swap, just have some patience, because if you get frustrated it'll take you much longer. Unbolt the converter from the flexplate, using some type of wedge to hold the flexplate still. Getting the tranny off the engine can be a PAIN. Use a tranny jack and wiggle the tailshaft of the tranny until it pops loose. We had to use an air hammer on mine the first time. Prefill the converter with some tranny fluid just to get things lubed up so you're not dealing with a dry start. Make sure the new converter seats. My TCI was a PAIN to get seated, had to take it off and put it on numerous times, and we finally got everything lined up and it dropped right into place. Take your time and have some patience when you're bolting the converter back to the flexplate, it just takes time (and swivel extensions aren't a bad idea either, they'll help on bolting the converter to the flexplate as well as the bellhousing bolts). Just take your time and have some patience and it's all pretty straightforward.

could you guys post up a list of tools/sizes of sockets and things of that nature that would be needed?

i hope to be doing mine in about two weeks, and i want to make sure we have all the right tools wherever we end up doing it.

I'll second that, I have a nice slash on my wrist. If it was any deeper I may have needed to go to the hospital.
