4l60e 94 to 95 tranny swap
i have a 95 firebird formula with a 4l60e tranny in it, that blew up and the guy who did the last rebuild on it is a tool, so long story short, i had to buy another one. this one came out of a 94, so i want to know how to put this one in, someone told me change a wire for the torque converter lock up, but i need some in depth details on this, and on anything else i may need, i appreciate any and all help on this, thanks guys!

if i do need to run a torque converter lockup wire from the 94 harness to the 95 pcm which wire do i run to where... i cant see the difference. page three of three on both of these 5.7ltr p engine code diagrams has this system wired almost identically, same everything.
the only torque converter control setup i see in there is the tan and black wire (11) and thats the same on both... no seperate control for the lockup on the torque converter, like i thought i needed for the swap...

update, 94 wiring diagram also does not match the wiring harness i have for the 94 tranny... i am missing a sensor ground cable(black... i would think that it should ground right on the tranny, afterall the block is grounded but :dunno, and i have two extra cables(pink/black, and purple)
could this be more annoying?

hey
listen up ..it goes like this..93-94(12pin) interchange...95 (13pin)pwm stand alone...96(13pin) pwm ec3 to present interchange....there is sooooooo much differant from the two it' would be a big waste of time to go into it. Basicly this is the way it is ...hope this helps..Dave

I agree with Dave. 94 is only interchangable with 93. 95's are PWM and will not work with the earlier version of the 4L60E. Sorry, but you need to find either a 94 or a 93.

If you get wiring schemas for the both trannys it shouldnt be any big trouble to get this to work, you have to fool the 95pcm that its hooked up to a PWM tranny, all it takes is a 20-30ohms 20w resistor hooked up between the pink (12v+) and the brown (PWM ground) in the wiring harnes outside the tranny...
And yes that works, im running a 4l80e -94 in oure -95 z28 , I use the PWM to activate the TC lockup (94-4l80e use PWM but no TCC and 3->2 solenoid) and have a resistor to simulate the lockup (TCC) solenoid,
the shift solenoids was another storry but that isnt a problem for you...

(and yes, 4l80e wired to a OBD1 camaro shouldnt work acourding to others )
