Default 4L60E Upgrade advice (rebuild time)

Well my 12.1447 Nitrous launches took their toll on the stock tranny and it's shifting funny from 1st to 2nd (Waits till 3500RPM )

So it's time to pull the biartch and throw some money at it.

I'm planning on spending about 1k in parts. I have a guy in San Antonio that will rebuild it for me.

I already have a Vigilante 3200 in it, and a tranny cooler, and temp guage so I should be covered there. I draine dthe fluid and there were some small metal shavings (very minor, like 5 or 6, no longer than 1/4th inch and a little thicker than a hair. I was wondering what items y'all would reccomend I request upgraded/changed. I'm sure he has a list of things that shoudl be done but I'd like to know some other people's advice so I walk into this with open eyes and armed with information.

He insists that he can get any parts I want for 10% off list price.

I'm buying a tork arm relocation before the tranny goes back in.

I'm currently at 413/414 RWHP/TQ (on spray) and my long term plans are to have 400 to 450HP NA and be able to launch with a 100 to 150 shot out of the hole.

Honestly, I'm not positive if the stall has "anti-baloon plates" That's something someone has brought up before, but I don't know how to check, and the TC is a "level 1" which is made by Vigilante, but sold under another name. I came by the stall second hand and for a mere $350.

I am going through the same situation as you right now besides my tranny isn't blown yet.. but i know its life is coming to an end.. I know a good guy that can build a trans for me so i think i am just going to go on Speed inc's site or another site and get the list of parts they use to build a stage 2 or 3 4L60E.. and just give him a list and let him do it from there..

But how long to built 4L60E's last? and how much power can they really hold?

Someone help us out! give us some info on built 4L60E's!! Let me know if you learn anything Ouija!! cya

From looking at speed Inc and FinishLine Performance it looks like the typical Level 2 trannies can handle up to about 450HP/400TQ. Level 3 can handle upwards of 600HP/550TQ and level 4's supposedly can handle upwards of 850HP/800TQ respectively.

Seems to me that most places have a variance of about $1000 between a 4L60e and a Level 4 4L60e. None of them list a Torque Converter change, that's an additional charge.
