Going to get the airbag in soon. Do I need to drop the rear or can I wiggle it in there? haha

ps- What is a good pressure to start with? 13psi?

 

I just jacked up the rear to let the coil stretch out some. I squeezed the thing as flat as I could, and I managed to wiggle it in. It was a PITA, though. <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

I have been told about 20psi works really well. I need to get to the track and try it at that pressure. Good Luck with the install and afterwards at the track!

I have done it both ways.

Wriggling it in sucks ***. Took like 40 minutes that way.

Taking off the shock and jacking up the other side took 15 minutes.

Start the bag at 10psi and add 5 lbs of air at a time and experiment.

 

Pressure depends on tranny, weight, and suspension, but for the most part i think you will land in a ballpark between 14-19 pounds.

 

I jacked the car up to stretch the spring, and it took me all of 10 minutes tops to get it in there and run my line to wherever I wanted it. I think PSJ was trying it with his eyes closed. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
I run mine at 22 psi at the track, and it seems to work well.

No, I got that out of my system WAY back in the day on my T/A when my broken jack wouldn't go high enough to stretch the spring. <img src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" border="0" alt="[guns]" />

Daren, I am doing rear HAL's, think i should ditch the airbag? I have not been using it but my car is not really hooking with my current setup anymore.

 

If it took PSJ 40 minutes to install it a normal person can do it in 10! <img src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" border="0" alt="[fight]" />

Jack the car up and set it on jack stands so the rear can hang down, put some carwash soap on the coils where you are going to wiggle the bag through, hook up the air hose and inflate to 35 lbs. Then put the car back on the ground and set the desired pressure I usually go 20-22 psi.

If you don't pump the bag up to 35 lbs before setting the car back down you can tear the bag.

keep the airbag. im ditching mine, but only because i am going with a Wolfe swaybar. the airbag didnt seem to make my car hook any better, but it goes a TON straighter down the track with it, especially on the nitrous passes. i just bought rear Hals too <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

We have found it just as simple to remove the lower shock mount, drop the rearend, and pop the spring out. If you do try to squeeze it in, however, be careful not to damage the hose nipple on the bag. 10 psi has been a good starting point for us.

I jacked up the car on the pass.side and removed the wheel.I was able to wedge the air bag in about 2 minutes.
