Default Help Quick! Installing a 12bolt...

I'm currently in the middle of installing my 12bolt (taking a dinner break now). I'm using my stock alluminum driveshaft until my Dennys gets here. I needed to get a Saginaw to 1350 U-Joint. How do I get the stock U-Joint off my alluminum driveshaft? And how do I install the new U-Joint? I will need to reuse the old U-Joint because i'm going to sell my driveshaft when I get my Dennys. Thanks alot!

I have not actually done this. The believe the u-joint is pressed on, so it will be a little hard to get off. When you have to put the stock one back on the driveshaft it have to be pressed back on.

Try using a socket that just fits inside of the u-joint. Use a vise to press the u-joint out. You will have to use the socket on one end and somehow support the other end of the driveshaft with the vise so that it will allow the u-joint to slide out.

Trust me on this one (been there) ...take it to a driveshaft shop and have them replace it with the proper u joint...labor $10...best $ you've ever spent...the factory joint has a plastic seal that has to be melted off with a torch.

onfire - yeah, I found that out. I tried melting it with a torch last night. I thought I got it all melted out. After that I proceeded to beat on it with a socket and a mini-slege. No can do. I'm just an impatient bastard, I wanted my car NOW. I guess i'll have to wait until Monday. Thanks guys.

I just decided to bite the bullet and wait the two weeks that it takes to get a DS from Denny. I ordered two weeks ago tomorrow, so it oughta be here soon. I wanted to get the right measurement once the Moser (w/1350) was in, but I didn't want to run the stock DS because it's just too long (see how far it gets pushed in to the trans?).

So, my '98 Aluminum DS can go on my 94Z now. It's like a free mod!

Hell, are you saying I won't be able to run my stock DS with my Moser 12bolt (1350)? I wanted to run it this week and next until my Dennys gets here.

No, you need the 1310, I believe, to run the stock Ds.1350 is bigger.
