Gas Milage down with converter.

When I got my Vig3200 my gas milage in the city went down to about 13 mpg. This happen to anybody else? Or am I just having too much fun with this thing? hehe

I'll have to agree with that. My mileage seems about half of what it was before. But damn it sure is fun.

Yes mileage will go down when conv.
isn't locked. And the playing with

Yeah my mileage went down to about 16mpg with 100% city driving leaving the tranny in 3rd gear to avoid the YANK issues... with the 2-3 shift solenoid getting "stuck open". Not too bad though I still get decent highway mileage - similar to before anyway, as long as the converter is locked, not much changes.

Is this an issue w/all Yank converters? I've got a Super Thruster 3500 and haven't felt anything strange

I wouldn't say you're driving it too hard. You're probably just having fun with it around town - you're not going to hurt anything other than your mileage. I just got my Vig 2800 installed, and my mileage actually was a little higher than usual (20.5 vs. 19). That's because I spent a lot of the tank on the freeway. I'm playing around with this tank, so I expect it to be a lot lower. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Gas mileage with my vig3200 is fine. I drive like grandpa through town though...when I used to have macs w/ory and loudmouth combo I never let it get over 2500rpms because it was just too loud, and people would look at me crazy.

Now that I have cats again, I accelerate however I want and gas mileage has gone to hell.

Man, I get that with my 4000 stall, 224 cam, raised idle speed, and bad cylinder.

What was your mileage before that? I lost maybe 2 mpg with my ST3500.

I didnt care care mileage before...dont care about it now...

I never kept track of fuel usage, but with the converter it seems like I'm gettin just a lil bit less...
Dont laugh but I get about 120 miles per tank..
I know this is cuz I only drive about 1.5 miles a day for work.

But on the highway..no problems..I can't pick off any lose in efficiency...

<img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> You run the 1/4 at every stoplight don't ya. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> With the same driving that I did w/ the stock converter, my mileage seemed to drop 1-2 MPG w/ the Vig 3200. I'll consistently get 15-16 MPG with town driving and 22.5-23 MPG on the highway w/ the 3.73's.

you guys dont even want to know the gas milage of my caprice (LT1). Im happy to see 300 miles to a tank (and thats all highway driving). otherwise im happy to see 250 to a tank. and that rarely happens.
