stall converter
i was gonna get a 4000 stall converter to go with a trex cam into my 99 xtreme s10. how does the stall work? i know rite now with my v6 its got a 1500 stall so when i brake torque the tires dont spin til 1500. is it the same principle with the 4000? how practical is this for daily driving? im guessing not

yes, the converter works the same way.
I might would go with something a little looser, like a 4200 or 4400.
And this can easily be daily driven as long as you get the lock up converter. You can drive it even if it's not lock up, but it's going to be irritating with the rpm's sitting so high all the time.

DD = daily driver. and i think a 4k stall would be perfectly fine for that engine in an s-10...as the s-10 weighs considerably less than an f-body car. if you were to install that cam in an f-body, i would suggest a 4400 stall. the lighter the vehicle, the less stall speed is demanded.

ok just got the weights. a 2002 camaro has a curb weight of 3500, the s10 xtreme ext. cab weighs 3200(mine), but a 4x4 s10 weighs 3800. my dad always told me his camaro was way lighter than mine, i guess he was wrong. haha. you guys are being really helpful the guys over on the s10 forums have to guess because so few have done this, and none to my knowledge are shooting for 11s. lol
