There was some electrical issues with cruise control I think?...an electrical element would stay hot after the car was shut off and in some instances would catch on fire and destroy the car. Ford issued a big recall for this not too long ago, several houses/garages burned down because of it.

3500 pounds is pretty full weight in my book, daily driven, well no time for that anymore 2 jobs and a wife and little one. eventually yes, but believe me i am ready to go on a highway/city cruise at any given time.

I drive a M6 z28 but I don't talk trash, Im building more of a street car that I can take my sons on crusies. If I was building a drag car I would have looked for an A4.

As long as your happy F**k what everyone else thinks.

This thread is stupid. More Auto's will run lower times then M6 cars due to the fact that it takes a /very/ /very/ good drive to equal an Auto. But an M6 car CAN run the low times. Maybe only 1% of the people on this site are skilled enough to do it though.

And fighting the Manual vs Auto argument by bringing up "Lencos", etc... is just as dumb. They are FULL OUT RACING TRANSMISSION. They are not a built "Factory" unit; completly POINTLESS.

If you can run an 8 second or lower 1/4 mile time on any "Factory" based built transmission you are doing something right regardless if it is a Manual or Automatic. Speed is Speed. It's almost like argueing N20 vs Turbo vs Supercharger; doesn't matter.

I run an Auto because I do not fall into that "elite" driver group because I just do not have the experience. And 99% of the time I will run up against a M6 driver that is not part of that group as well; therefore I win.

This thread should be locked. /post

This is an old one..blowin some dust off here..

I had an A4 for 3 years, I'm switching to a T56 cause I miss it, and it's a hell of alot more durable, and more simpler maintenance.

I'm not in the 8 second range but I am posting 10.112@143mph
That being said my 60' sucks. M6's are not easy at the track by no means.
I'm debating switching to an automatic to pick up lost ET time.

Cool thread to come up on:

A4 FTMFW, drove M6's for the past 6yrs and had fun, but once I got back into a A4 stalled and car had some power.....its funny when the M6 guys look at my car and say ohh I got you on a roll, I'm like really!!!!! Lets go do a 45-125 roll race and lets see. Yeah lets just say they were lost for words when my car just pulled and pulled, LOL. Or when my muffled cammed A4 pulls in a parking lot and a loud M6 no muffler cammed stroll through and automaticlly he is faster, yeah they learn their lessons also, lol!

A4 for better, 60'fts, better ET's, and less wear on your drivetrain.
