You left out zero....
I had trouble with the TCI from the get-go, the
B&M Trick Shift incident. Performance was fine,
just the clutch was pretty much trashed from
there on out.

yea this is one thing thats worrying me about getting a stall. I see A LOT of people have trans problems after installing one or the converter has problems and what not. Exactly how reliable are they?

I have 60k on my car, installed the stall (vig3200) at around 32k miles. Dozens of track trips and low 12 second passes. My tranny did take a dump at 55k miles. Had the stall cut and flushed at the time and still going strong. Precision Industries said there were no problems when they inspected it.

im close to two years on my tci3000.
ive had many of passes on the track and many wot on the street.
many people have trans problems because they beat on the car more so than they should.

my fuddle's been very good to me, got it installed in may 2005.
i havent had any tranny problems, other than not converter related (one of the solenoids went bad, for example).
also, i think a lot of people, myself included, just get paranoid after installing the converter.
for me, it was because i also installed a tranny temp gauge and now i always notice how damn hot it runs. however, i am positive it ran just as a hot, if not hotter (since ive a tranny cooler now) stock. reason for that is, i see hopw fast the tranny is heating up even if the car is just PARKED. turned on, but parked. leave it like that for 15-20 minutes and the temp goes to about 200 degrees.. yuck..
anyway
just buy the converter and enjoy it, **** this worrying ****

the answer is it really depends...
bigger stall (generally) shorter life
what about quality of manfacturer
driving styles ??
tune quality??
driving conditions (very important)
traction (more =more stress on a tranny)
nothing is gonna last forever if your raceing it .....but when it breaks ya just buy a better one
my car is a garage queen now ive had a 3500+ stall for a year with no issues im also about to be putting in a h\c package and which im sure will shorten the life of my tranny but when it blows ill buy a bigger stall and a better tranny ... thats just the way it goes hell in my case im counting on it

I've had 2ea converters in my car. The 1st one was a Yank stl3200 worked well with my 2:73 rear for over 1.5 yrs no issue. Swap the rear to 3:42's & put in a used Vig3200 3+ yrs no issues & over 100 passes. The trans is totally stock except a cooler with 75k. The car used to be a DD but now is a weekend warrior.

3200 Vig here. It was in 2 cars before mine and probably had about 30,000 on it when I got it. I have put 10,000 on it since my install with no problems. It has never been rebuilt or restalled.
