Thumbs up New Poly Trans. Mount--Amazing Difference!

Ok, so I've been hunting down problems on my TA for a while now...new suspension and a lot of hunting for things knocking and rattling. Last week while I was rigging up one of the heat shields under the floor of the car not to rattle anymore I noticed that my transmission mount was torn and very loose. I ordered an Energy Suspension Poly trans. mount and I just put it on today. The results were amazing...I could swear that I now have a totally different car! Keep in mind that I replaced a busted rubber trans. mount, but the new mount fixed a lot of my rattles and vibrations and even helped out my handling b/c now the transmission doesn't bounce around under the car over bumps and rock around corners. The mount makes if feel so solid that I could swear the car has 20 more hp not to mention the the transfer of the power since the tranny is so much more solid in it's place. This whole time I was thinking I needed to fix and upgrade my suspension I probably could have cured the problem just by getting a new Trans. mount had I known about it!

Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the Energy Suspension and the Prothane mounts? Everyone I see complains about theirs...

I got the prothane and got good results.

NOTSOSTOCK99TA, if you want to see another great improvment get a torque arm poly mount for the torque arm bracket. Replacing the rubber bushing with the poly makes a great differnce. For this part I also used prothane bushings.

The reason I say that is because everyone gets on here after installing their poly trans mount and complains about new vibrations and rattles...check it out, there are many threads...

So now I see this and think...what? This guy said it actually fixed vibrations??

What is the part # for the ES mount? I can't find it, all the sponsors only carry the Prothane.

It isn't even on their website:

http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/pont1.html

I'll probably just get the Prothane since I can order it from Summit...already have it in shopping cart.

Blackhawk T/A, I didn't say it fixed vibrations, I said it fiixed the tranny wabbling and shaking over bumps and around corners and launching...mostly just b/c my factory mount was toast...but since this one is so solid, the vibrations of the tranny transmit into the body of the car.

I'll be trying the Prothane, and installing it without the metal part I hear helps...but then why do they include it? Is the transmission in the right spot and at the right angle if you don't use it?

I don't think not using the shim will effect the postitioning of the tranny at all...it's just a really thin piece of metal that you slip b/w the mount and the tranny its self that they say "preloads" the mount...which tells me...makes it very hard, so this weekend I'm going to slip that shim out and see where that gets me.

after changing my stock mount for a prothane i noticed a shitload of vibration. after about ~600 miles now, it seems that 90% of the vibration is gone. i only get it now at WOT and in nuetral revving the engine. your vibrations will lessen with use, so don't worry. i just hated having such a baby *** smooth stalled auto, it was SO smooth and quiet. now i have some new squeaks and a few vibrations...oh well, the price you pay to play, right?
