Default Tranny deep pan. bmm-70260

I was looking at the BMM-70260 deep tranny pan for the 4l60e anyone have this? I saw where it says that theres "No temperatre sender bung included" What does that mean, can I still hook up a trann temp gauge? I'm getting the b&m super cooler for my 3400 fuddle stall and I wanted to get the guages too.

It is referring to the 1/2 NPT plug provided on the side of the pan. B&M does not supply an adapter for the sending unit, which is typically an 1/8 NPT. You will need to purchase the required fitting, which should be available at most DYI places (ie: Home Depot, Lowes, etc).

Looks like a nice pan. If that gasket is a cork gasket, I would consider using a stock one instead, I hate cork.

You can still hook up a tranny temp guage, but you will need to buy the bung seperatly and have it welded in. Summit sells the bung as well.

Get the deep truck filter, it comes with a good AC Delco gasket. You don't want to risk starving the converter with a shallow filter.

That's what I've got done with my TCI.

Is your car lowered? I had a B&M cast deep tranny pan but I could never use it.
I mocked it up one day and it was lower than my collectors on the hooker LTs.
My collectors have flat spots on the bottom. No way could I use that pan.

Now I have alot of weight reduction and an Eibach drag launch kit so I can get away with the cast deep tranny pan on the TH400 thats in it now.

Just something to think about.

I have this pan and it sits very low. something to consider. It also comes with an extension tube for the filter so you still continue to use the stock style filter

Above the shift linkage there is a test port that an autometer electric temp sender will fit into, so there is no need to drill and tap your tranny pan. This is where most everyone mounts their sensor.

Good to know for the 4l60e. That test port is measuring what? Tranny fluid coming from the pan or to the pan.

The test port is found on TH350, TH400 and 4L60(E) ... I think also the 4L80(E). It is used to check the pressure coming out of the converter to verify adequate pressure, this will be the hottest point the trans fluid will be. Also, due to the high pressure of this port, be sure the sender is secured tightly ... not too tight as the thread is conical and the case is aluminum and could crack if the plug/sender is over tightened.

Hmmm, didn't know it was on the TH400 I just ordered. I had a bung put in the pan, oh well. Good info! I agree about cracking the aluminum case using a pipe thread fitting, be careful.

I had the deep trans pan also and used the test port for the sending unit. It is a 1/8" NPT thread for those that need to order one.

It does come right from the TC and the hottest my temp got with a 12 gvw cooler was 165 deg on the hottest day of the year.
