Default stall question

Ok, first off. I ordered a Vig 3000 from Speed Inc. The part # says 2800-3200, i swear the guy on the phone said they were all the same or something? What stall speed do i have? 2800, 3k, or 3200.

second question. I got this one cuz i wanted mild on the street. Now that i've had a converter for a while and the street manners are amazing.....i was looking for 'less' manners. How much of change would a 3800 stall be?

third question: how can i physically tell the difference btwn 3k and 3800?

um, last question, what rpm does the converter 'stop working' for you? I heard someone say it doesn't help you on the freeway when you hammer it.?

Not true...a converter never stops working for you...that is just nonsense.

A 3800 will certainly drive different than a 3000, it will rev more driving it around and will flash higher when you get on it.

A stall gives you shift extension, over the stock converter, at any speed, when you drop the hammer and the converter unlocks. If the converter is locked, there should be no difference, except for the Yank SS series, and possibly other models that I am not aware of. The Yank SS series, at least the SS3200, is more efficient than stock, and, therefore, also provides a gain when locked. Take a look at the Yank website for an explanation. I'm not sure if this is true of the Vigilante, or not. I have been told most aftermarket converters dyno lower than stock converters.

I know all that stuff already. And yes you usually lose some peak hp on the dyno.

But i was looking for what differences there would be btwn 3000 and 3800 in driveability.

well i have a fuddle 3600 and untuned there are indeed some driveability issues. Such as being kinda of a dog before 2.5k which kinda ampified by my loudmouth exhaust (ie it makes alot noise with out doing much). aslo got a rough idle that like to bounce up and down when the motor is warming up and I've even stalled out with the AC on or hard steering inputs. However I've goten use too the noise and a tune shoud fix my idling problem. Oh and over stock she pulls like son of a bitch at WOT.

If you wanna sell that 3000 PM me. I want a street stall. My buddy has a Fuddle 3600 its a monster at WOT. The only problems I saw was at WOT on street tires from a dig is just a giant smoke show.

What I was responding to was your last comment in the original post:

Good luck on whatever you decide on and end up with!

haha. ok.

So it sounds like a pretty big difference between 3000 and 3800 then?

I'd like to sell the 3000, but Vigilante offers 1 free stall change, so i'll be using that to get 3800. Sorry man.

I hope you remember a 3800 will stall to about 4200-4300 remember that vig is weird and does not accurately rate there stalls to the competition. Most vig 3200 stalls will stall to 3600-3700
