Default Is there a difference in brands of Torque converters ?

For example, between Yank and Fuddle ?

I know fuddle its less expensive and if they are identical then whats the point of paying more.

Im in the market for a TC thats the reason behind my question.

On a side note, What kind of Tranny cooler should I look for ? Or whats the best out there ?

They are not identical, companies differ in the way they rate their converters in terms of stall speed and STR, and efficiency is not the same across the board.

Most people here go with the B&M Supercoolers, mine is a 24k unit.

I can only speak for the Yank SS3200. Drives like a stocker until you punch it...beautiful converter. I've also ridden in cars with other brands of converters whose owners claimed they drove like stock. It's why I chose the Yank SS series and have never looked back. They are worth the money, no doubt about it.

A good read on the subject and how people judge converters etc.

If you are not going to be modding the **** out of your car (I.E. huge cam, heads, intake, turbo, spray) there is nothing wrong with a Fuddle. They are a very affordable converter without any problems (at least as far as I've read on these boards). I will probably switch to a Yank once I get a new tranny, but for now, my Fuddle rocks!

You get what u pay for! Yank is the way to go. Thats my 2 cents, but theres other good converters out there also you just got to look around. I've always been told to do it right the first time!

If you are going to mod don't get a fuddle converter because he is selling restalled stock converters which someone else built.

Why would you want to use a stock restall?

PI or Yank are both great.

Where are your facts to support your statement?

BTW do you own a Fuddle converter or have you ever seen one?

When fuddle first appeared on this board I asked a bunch of questions. They do not build their own converters. The converters are made from cores. Facts straight from fuddle. I tried searching for that post but it seems the board doesn't go back that far.

Here's a vote for the vig3200 (mine actually flashes at 3700-3800 with my mods).

best 60ft time of 1.66 with 17 inch drag radials and a 3685 raceweight. Have had it for 32k miles without any problems.

Most, if not all converter companies use OEM bits. Even Yank uses OEM bits for some of their product line-ups.

And, this is a problem why? Why would you cast and machine your own bits that would not outperform a readily available mass-market bit and cost 3 times as much? Doesnt make good business sense to me.

Most converters, I would say 95% of them available today, are re-manufactured stalls from lesser powered vehicles. That is the easiest and most cost efficient way to hi-stall your LS1. If you can build durability and on-par performance with higher cost converters into that package, how is that a bad thing?

Agreed, you get what you pay for. But all too often, without clarification, people ASSUME that means quality and reliability. Where does it say that must always be the case? Why cant things can be cheaper and just as effective as items costing twice as much?

Do you need to custom manufacture every party of every 9.5" stall that costs $950USD that will only ever see the track? If that were so, half the people here would still be running stock stalls and running 13s.

Man what is Six Speeds problem with Fuddle? This is the second post where I have seen him all flustered and talkin **** about Fuddle or its people. What is your reasoning? You don't see people with this sort of chip unless it has made an impact on their pocketbook. Whats the story Six Speed?
