how hot a4 guys?

how hot a4 guys? does your tranny temp get? whats normal, and whats the hottest youve seen? and what size converter you running?
when it was cooler outside mine was 170ish. now with it being in the 100 degree area during the day, its always about 200, after a while of driiving. at night now its 180s. and i just took a 90 mile trip and when i got into town the temp got up to 229
i have a 4000 stall.

i have a 4000 stall. That is too "warm". In my area I see about 100 degrees now, and my trans temp never get's above 160 degrees while driving around town or on the freeway. I have a B&M 3000 with a B&M cooler and B&M trans temp gauge. I would highly recommend that you either add a cooler, or if you already have one, add another one. That is too hot for my liking. The hottest my 2001 Camaro SS has ever got with this setup was 210 degrees. That was when it was being road raced fairly hard for an article.

When I had my MW4200...
150* - highway (120* in winter time)
185* - city (150* in winter time)
200* - hotlapping
It did reach 210 once but it was 105* outside and I was in stop and go traffic for about an hour.

i have a 3600 stall and city driving is about 150-180, highway is about 130-150. 200 degrees seems a bit too hot for having that big of a cooler, but maybe thats due to such hot temps outside. its only about 80-90 where i live so that probably helps
200 isn't all that bad at all in 100* ambient air, 229 is pushing it imho but as long as you are not racing it the trans would still probably be allright. if you raced it in that weather then it would be toast.

120-140 driving nice or on the freeway. 150-170 when getting on it a lot. 170 is the highest Ive seen since tranny cooler install. routed thru cooler only not through radiator. I live in NE Wisconsin and dont have the heat you do though.

Temps average in the High 90's 100 degree range here. My temps on cooler days and nights is around 150F-160F. On the hot days it touches the 180F. Not that often does it go over. I have a 3500 stall with the big B&M cooler and fan hardwired.

What are you measuring with?
Don't trust your guage unless you have verified it's accuracy with a scanner.
I was worried as my gauge pegged at 250* a couple times last year, although it was HOT HOT HOT and humid to boot, with lots of stop and go driving.
Turns out that my gauge reads 15-25* high.
229* isn't too bad for 100*+ and city driving (it was city, right? Should be cooler on highway). Just don't go WOT at that temp.
It helps if you have a manual fan switch or changed the fan settings to come on earlier and keep the coolant temp lower.

keeps me thinking about it.ive noticed the last couple of days with me running errands in the heat of the day, if im out in traffic too long its up to 205. it hovers there, going down a few degrees and going back up. is that too bad? if my tranny takes a dump on me before i can make it out for that 10 second pass im gonna be
Run a big cooler with a fan! The hotter it gets the faster the tranny fluid breaks down and the faster your tranny wears out. I don't have a stall in my SS yet but it'll get a huge cooler and a temp guage when it gets installed.
