Question Quick trans cooler question...

Everythig I've read on installing a trans cooler says to unplug the cooler line on the bottom of the radiator, problem is the nut on mine is rounded.

So is there any harm in useing the return line on the top of the radiator?

Basicly its just switching the order of the coolers, so I dont see anything wrong with it, but I want to make sure beforehand.

Thanks, John

Ok well I put the damn thing on and it doesnt leak, so I guess its working...

But now my stall converter feels alot loser, maybe its just my imagination, but it seems like I really have to rev the **** out of it to get it to go anywhere now.

I am sooooo done with automatic trannys for the rest of my life...

I feel your pain man. When I got the car I had never driven a stick. I've since learned on forklifts and then a few mustangs. I'm really starting to think about a M6 swap.

If i remember right, your now going to the cooler first, then back into the radiator, then back to the tranny by you using the top line first. IMO, that's not really efficient because the radiator is heating it back up before it goes to the tranny.

Yeah but it wouldnt get any hotter than the radiator, and mine is always running in the 160-175 range.

I know its not as good, but I'm just hopeing it'll be ok.

Actualy... which is the return line to the tranny? The one that comes out of the top of the radiator or the bottom?

Because the one write up I've seen says the return line is the top line, not the bottom one. In which case I'm running like this:

Tranny-->Stock cooler-->Aftermarket cooler-->tranny.

Actually, I think your right . The bottom hose is that high pressure line and is the feed line to the cooler and the top is indeed the return.
