If you add a stall converter, it will be even more, since they allow for much more slippage.

So long as you get the right TC, you'll be fine. The Power #'s on a Dyno never ever tell the whole truth. Only racing it will.
It's hard to say. It more depends on the TC then the trans. The trans is will rob some more power since you are turning heavier part. But that's what it will take to keep the power in the car and put it to the ground.

Friend of mine just did the swap, his car made 497 hp thru the 6 speed and 12 boltw/4.10's, after the swap he made 435 rwhp, but the tq went thru the roof. This is with a loose hughes stll that is stalling about 5000 in his car.
I don't knwo 100% if there's any tuning changes that have to be made for the auto,. maybe a slight tweak for the idle or whatever, but my advise, is do the swap, go to the track first, see what that gets you, and then dyno. This way, when you go to the track and see a massive improvment, you'll be happy, get the dyno # after.
Best part about the dyno #, os that people will ask you what your car makes for power, and you tell them the th400 dyno # and then what the car ran, they'll be like what?

Wouldn't really worry about the dyno number, huge difference between an unlocked auto and an M6. Like mentioned before, the results will show at the track. Just be sure to put better wheel studs on there so your tire stays on this time ...

You mean all the junk that breaks in a 4l60.... no, none of that garbage is in there. I asume you went manual valve body too... also a good move if you did.
Unlocked, means the converter will never lock, so the tranny will always have some slip, but alot of that depends on teh converter you are running, a good effecient converter will have very little slip once up to speed.

Or.... you can have your A3 set up for a lock up verter(but is pricey). I bought my(rmvb/TB'd)TH400 already built LU ready and can lock it up at will with the flip of a switch. Almost the best of both worlds in a non computer controlled tranny.
Still haven't had the time or *** to install it, but am thinking it will suit my needs well w/the tall gear.
As for rwhp loss..... the example in the above post seems 'bout right..... 12-15% would be my guess, but may vary depending on race weight and rear gear/tire combo.

I have a 4l80 coming with a 3600 stall and the b&m shifter. Going to add a manual push button on the sixspeed upper console to lock and unlock the converter. I cant wait. I was torn between a 4l80 and a th400. I rode in two cars. One with a th400 and another with the 4l80. It was really nice having the extra OD when enjoying the car and not all out racing.
