4l60e a4 the same trans in 95 s10?
I believe the tranny is the same, but the fact that it is 4wd makes it very hard (cant think of a better word for impossible) to use on your F-body. Transmissions that are mated to a transfer case do not have the rear tail housing, where as 2 wheel drive units do. I belive you might be able to take yours off of your tranny and put it on, but this is just a guess. Call a local transmission shop they might be able to tell you.

Yes, same tranny - used in the S10 pickup/blazer, trialblazer/Envoy, silverados, tahoes, suburbans, big rear drive cars, 'vettes, etc. The 4x4 and 'vette versions are a slightly difference configuration, but can be made to work with the right parts.
95 was in the crossover years to the 4L60E, so make sure it is the E version, I don't know when the trucks switched.

sounds like I have an extra trans!
so about the only thing needed would be the tail shaft off of mine to make it work? how can I be sure it's a 4l60E?

Chris:
Are you saying that none of those cars use the 4L80e or just not in that year?
GM uses the 4L80 in suburbans and some other truck applications, but I don't know in 1995.

They are both 4L60-E....but.....there's always a but you know :
The tranny in your TA will have the 3 piece case (removable bellhousing) while the S10 tranny will NOT, as well as the 4wd issues previously mentioned. I believe the input shaft is a different length as well. It (bolting the S10 tranny up) would be similar to what's required to bolt up a turbo 350 or 400 properly to an LS1 - custom converter, stiffener/adaptor plate, etc...
Hope this helps. I'm quite certain of my facts. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like all full size truck apps used the 60. You are correct, some combos do come with the 80. Although most of the vehicles (half-tons) you find will be have 60s in them.
I was not aware of the multi-piece case issue. Thanks, rob
