(NEWS) 4L60E Transmission shields should be available by end of year
I spent an hour on the phone with a noted maker of transmission-related parts, and they disclosed that they will have 700R4 and 4L60E transmission shields available by the end of this year.
Also might send us 2-3 of them, perhaps we could hold a raffle and send them off to our members.
Anyone else excited? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: (NEWS) 4L60E Transmission shields should be available by end of year
Terry, Please turn me on to the source of 4L60E transmission for $400.00. I'm planning on converting from my M6 to auto, and would love to buy one of those to send to FLP as a core.
Please advise.
Please advise.

th350/400 is the way to go when you are really at high power levels. I had went through 3-4L60E's and they are garbage IMO. I now have a th350+transbrake and cut low 1.40's 60ft time consistantly at the track when the car was not down.

Why rebuild a POS and not put in a bulletproof part? How many $$$$$ should someone keep throwing at a 4l60e everytime it "craps out"? Typical Terry Bugger post.
Tim(gave up on rebuilding the 4l60e after 2 times and $2200.00 later and now has a TH400)

Re: (NEWS) 4L60E Transmission shields should be available by end of year
Just because 4L60E's break doesn't mean you should run a TH400. As I said TH350/400s are completely ghetto race car parts. You might as well put the gold 20 spokes and chrome mud flaps on at that point.
If you're running anywhere in the 11s a 4L60E should last at least 2 years before rebuilds. If its not, something is wrong with your case. I think the hot ticket is to stock pile stock 4L60E trannies for $400 each and use them as needed.
When I get sick of the 4L60E and its problems, I'll put the 4L80E in. There is a little weight penalty but its a nice electronically controlled fully automatic lockup/overdrive tranny.
