How does the shifter "work" ? I am used to a quarter stick style shifter. Lets say I have a RMVB TH400 like you do, how does shifting gears take place? How does downshifting take place? Is the button for a transbrake or line lock?

The button can be used for either, shifting it is the easiest of any shifter. No stupid levers you have to push, you just pull back for each gear and there are springs that move the shifter from side to side threw the gates. Down shifting is just as easy just push forward.

So the "gate" is the piece of metal that stops the shifter from going down into 3rd (RMVB). Then the springs move it left, and then you pull down into 3rd?

Downshifting is going back through the gate, and the springs work the same way but in reverse order?

The only downfall I see if you cannot "hide" the shifter under the stock A4 upper console like you can in a quarter stick type shifter. It kind of reminds me of the sport shifters you see in a Lexus IS300 or something- how its gated like that.

The spring does'nt pull it left for you, you have to pull it left then back to 3rd gear. Pushing it from 3rd to 2nd however will automatically push back over to the next gate (right). See my pics on the first page, it hides just fine.

If you buy the air powered version like I have the springs do all the moving for you, you just have to pull back for each gear.

If you get the air version do you have to have it hooked to air and have it shift for you or can you still shift it manually and just utilize the springs that move it left and right for you that you mentioned?

Have have DanZ28's Cheetah shifter now with the black center console already cutout **complete with cable** If anyone is interested.

$150.00 shipped for what you see in the pictures.

I decided it would be too much hassle to swap out my B&M Pro Stick.
