On Sunday, I installed my Vig3200. So far the street driving around town looseness is a tad much, but on the highway ... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> This thing is incredible. But I do have a couple of concerns, may be you guys can provide input. This is a used converter I bought on the classifieds. When doing a WOT run, my "shift extensions" (is that the correct term?) are at 5,000 rpms and never drop below that. Do all the Vig3200 do that, or did I get a Vig3600? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> I would mind if it is a bigger converter, I'm happy with it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Also, yesterday while out to lunch, I stalled my auto. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> I was parked on a downhill slope and had to back up, I guess I didn't give it enough gas. The idle seems to hang at (+/-) 500 rpms. Should I adjust the idle set screw? Do you guys have any input to compare (even if it's a different brand), I'd like to see what other converters are doing with a similar stall. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

One very satified converter user, should have done it first!

Shift extension on a Vig 3200 should be around 4800-5000 rpms. If it's a Vig 3600, the extension should be 5000-5200. Try placing your shifter in 2nd gear at a dead stop, then mash your throttle while holding the brakes. If the brakes hold, you should be able to read maximum stall. Try it. (only applies to '00-02 F-Bodies).

While we are on topic, I have noticed a few guys runing tens on Yank Race converters.

If you have a cam, ported heads, intake, N2O, and gears how do the race converters hold up on the street for day to day driving? Should I stay away from them?

If you plan on running a big shot of nitrous, you'll be better off with a street/strip converter like the ST3500 or Vig 3200 in my opinion.

I was looking at a 100 or 150 shot. Probably a 100.
In my eyes that is a small show compared to the guys with 200 and 300 shots but I will be runing the stock block and rotating assebley for a while.

Yup, listen to Patrick. I did and was able to make an educated choice regarding a converter. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Hey patrick, I tried that 2nd gear test you mentioned, it went up to 4000 rpms. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> After which I could only use 2nd gear. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> So I pulled over, and waited about a minute ... everything is fine now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Any ideas?

Anyway, here is another video similar to the first. Although not as shakey. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Yank race converters are fine for daily driving. They last really long. A street/strip converter like a ST3500 or Vig 3200 is more liveable without too much of an ET penalty...especially with nitrous.

That's a really cool video. With you car stalling 4000 rpms in 2nd gear, sound like you either got a loose Vig 3200 or a tighter Vig 3600. Either way, consider yourself lucky. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

When you flash the converter hard in 2nd gear, it freaks out the pcm. It thinks you're doing an abusive stunt. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> LOL! It's normal to act the way it did. Glad you found out what your stall was.
