Default Yank stall, TCI flexplate

so i got my yank, and i have my tci flexplate. the flexplate came with a spacer to fit in the crank, i test fit it as best i could and it dosent look like i can use the spacer with the yank stall. so i put it together without the spacer, is this ok?

as long as the pilot is in the crank you will be fine
Yank puts the correct pilot on the converter for the engine /trans combo
make shure the bolts are correct and not to long without the spacer for the crank

You shouldn't need the spacer. Like Yank said, as long as the TC pilot protrudes into the crank, your good.

the bolts that were sent in the stall were really short. i ended up having to get some diffrent bolts, but then i had to make sure that they werent too long.

may i ask yank why they make them blind holes, rather than tap all the way through? is it for strength? becuase it would be cheaper just to make the threads go through rather than blind holes, just wondering..

Good question, because mine will not torque down, they seem too short to grab enough threads. My brand new yank converter acts like the bolts are stripped.

the arp's are too short. just go to the local hardware store and pic up some (GRADE 8) 12mm x 1.5 x 20mm hex head bolts for like $1 each. they work perfect. they measure 20mm (3/4 in) thread length. the head is not included in the advertised length

Grade 8 for metric bolts is different than standard. The metric equivilant to grade 8 should say 10.9 on the head of the bolt. Your bolt is more than likely a class 8.8 metric which would be more like a grade 5 bolt, which is not quite as strong as a grade 8.

MY BOLTS are grade 8 (or equivalent). they do say 10.9 on the head (which is more than likely a grade 8). thanks for clarifying that for him though. i left that part out. grade 8 and 10.9 is kinda like walking in a saying i need a metric bolt 3/4 inch long rather than 20mm. they catch your drift

What hardware store did you find 10.9 metric bolts? Most of them (Ace, True Value, Home Depot and Lowes) only carry the 8.8 unless you special order them.

i called two ace's in my area - they didn't have them, also called home depot... they didn't have them. i think i'm going to use either ARP flywheel bolts, or pressure plate bolts. the flywheel bolts are about 3/4 of an inch long thread... the pressure plate bolts are an inch...

i'd like to have as much thread in the converter as possible - with the TCI flexplate and a Yank converter - is an inch long thread too much???

honestly, i think they'd work but i'd hate to tell you to go buy em and then them not work (it'd be cuttin it close). ARP just charges so damn much for that ****. you could prolly order some through ACE and come out alot cheaper and have them in your hands just as fast or faster than if you order ARP's
