Default Converter shopping...

Im looking for a good street/strip verter. I want to know the IN CITY RPM that you will see with either the ss3600 or ss4000. Stop and go traffic. I know it will be higher than stock, but how much higher. BTW this is my DD.

Just ordered a 3400 from Fuddle. I don't know alot about converters, so correct me if I am wrong. I was talking with John from Fuddle Racing told him my mods, use of the car. I have more done to my car than Hell'sChariot, so it seems to me that a 3600 stall would be a little much for his car?

Go more if you can handle it .. 4000 seems right for a smallblock. I launch my 6speed car at 5500rpm . Shift extension rpm stays 4000 + with 4.11 gears .

Thanks for the input guys. I really want the 4000, but Im afraid it might be too big, thats why Im thinking the 3600 might be better for me. But then theres people that say the 4000 is not that bad. I just dont want to have to do this twice, that can get expensive. BTW I have stock gears (3.23).

I would go with the 3600 for your purposes, esp. with a lot of in-town driving. Under light to moderate throttle, it's going to run about 500rpm or so more than stock until it locks up.

I currently run a ST3500 and have an SS4000 on the way . I too was in your shoes and didn't want to go too big. I wanted a 3200, so I went up to a 3500 thinking that would fix me up. WRONG!!!......3500 is great, but not quite enough. This is my DD that might see the track a couple times a year. If your exhaust isn't super loud, you won't even realize you have a stall once you get used to it. Well, not until you hammer it .

Yep, I started with 3200 because I was afraid to go too big. I now have a 4000 and love it!

My 4400 is on my only car. I daily drive it in town, HW, etc. It took a little getting used to but it is a piece of cake now and the car launches like a damn rocket. It revs up to 2k-2.5k on normal start ups from light and when be loose from 2krpms to 3krpms between 1-40mph. You can have a tuner set your lockup speed to like 20mph so it acts like normal in town driving, but I didn't buy a stall converter for a tame drive!

FYI: John/Fuddle recommended a 3600 for my setup as well. I went with the 3200.
