Default 4l60E & 2.73 rear question

does anyone know why gm locked out first gear via the rubber block behind the shifter on cars equipped this way but not the cars with 3.42s and 3.23s

Mine wasn't that away when I bought my car. I could put my car in first gear and drive it with 2.73s, my brother's old LT1 on the other had a first gear lockout.

yeah that's what my little brother used to do when we used to roll it out
of course i had the 3.23's and he would get a nasty jump on me. they're good from a roll. it's crazy.

I thought all LS1 cars didn't have 1st gear lockout, regardless of gears - mine wasn't and originally came with 2.73's.

all a4 b4c cars came with 323s and don't have the 1st gear lockout.

my factory stock 273 car did not have 1st gear lockout, either.

This is an LT1 only issue. LS1s are not blocked out of 1st with 2.73s.

when you have this setup does you car drop it's self down to first on a 30 mph roll? it's supposed to drop down automaticall at full throttle right? cause my brothers doesn't but mine does and mine has the 3.23. is there sometihng wrong with his tranny?

You would know if you had a B4C. Most are black, but not all, we have lots of them here in Texas. They were a favorite of Texas DPS Troopers. They are not typically sold on lots, they go to auction, then disappear.

It might of been for cop cars, but not only. Last time I checked, Trans ams were not cop cars but I have 1st gear locked out (2.73s originally).
