Do i need a trans tune with a ss4000?

I was thinking about getting a ss4000 stall instaled, but how imporTANT is the trans tune with this size? 2000 T/A, a4, lid, catback,

I'm sure some will chime in and say no, but the reality is yes you will. The main reason is to prevent random locking and unlocking of the converter. The next is to maximize the driveability for part throttle driving around town.
Increasing shift speed is recommended as well to help tighten up the the loose shifts that come with a big stall.

Get it tuned, it should only be around 120 dollars for it. I believe that anything over a 3400 stall needs to be tuned.

My SS3800 isn't bad at all un-tuned. I'll get it tuned after I install some LT's but untill then it will stay the way it is.

tune it for sure.. get that lockup speed right where u want it.. along with some firmer shifts and change in shift points and kickdown

You also want to make sure that you get the "TorqueManagment" turned off as well!!

Seriously, as long as you're doing that, have them throw in the TransGo shift kit, I've seen it for as cheap as $110.00, and it'll help tons. After that stick a bigas cam in there like an MS3 or similar and that thing will be a street beast!

I have also heard of them killing the motor in reverse. The idle speed will have to be adjusted.

And in drive too, mines did that twice after I had it put in and tuned. No problems after the cam since it's at 950rpms at idle now.

I drove my SS4000 for a couple weeks untuned....no issues at all. And yes, it will most certainly shift 2-3 at WOT. However, it drives much better tuned. Raising the idle speed is a must since it will surge at idle. You'll be okay but tuning should be on your list of things to do ASAP.
