Default Manual shift for A4

The 4L60E is controlled by a computer, right? Why not look into developing a manual shift mechanism that lets the driver tell the computer when to tell the transmission to shift (gasp)? This may sound totally stupid, or not. I'm not too familiar with the 4L60E so if anybody can give reasons as to why this wouldnt work, please post. And if anyone just has comments, feel free to post them as well.

On a stock car there is no need to shift manually, the computer shifts exactly when needed. On a modified car you might benefit from shifting manually but then again you could just reprogram your shift points.

Its like I always say.....You can't outshift a computer

98C1500, There is a guy on LS1.com that made a series of microswitches that physically contacted the shifter and it worked like a charm. I havent seen him post anywhere in a while and I dont remember his name.

Go over there and ask he might tell ya.

Later, Stu
