I'll explain this the best I can.

I just picked up my new 98 SS. It has all the mods listed below. It has a built auto transmission with a 4600 stall in it. (Not sure on the size of the cam also) The car dynoed at 367 to the rearwheels. Well here is the problem. When on WOT it will not shift. It just bounces of the rev limiter. Also it seems like it is confused when to use overdrive. I am having it tuned up friday. I was hoping that's all it will be. It hasnt been tuned with the new tranny or cam. So I am hoping it just needs the shift points set in it with a good tune.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

i would probably agree with tuning first withthat high of stall computer is prolly having a brain fart you could scan it and see what its comanding to do that would be a first step.

You will definitely need a tune after making changes like that to your set up. Good luck and post back up after the tune. Vince

for what you need SpeedInc could do a mail order tune and get you set straight.

That's what I was hoping it is. It's weird I'll be going 45 and all of a sudden when you try and give it some more gas the rpms just jump up but the car actually doesnt shift. Would this also be because it is is need of the tune. Everyone has been telling me that it needs to be tuned up and that the shift points need to be set up in it.

also would this cause it to jump up in rpms but not shift when trying to accelerate quicker. I am hoping I dont have sever tranny problems

Kev I gotta tell you that with that tall of a stall you are definately going to see a significant increase in rpm's if you accelerate moderately while cruising at a constant speed of say 45 mph.

How long has this package been together? You mentioned you picked up your "new 98 SS", as in you just got the car right? It wouldn't hurt a thing to have the tune looked at, and then have the transmission serviced and inspected. I think you are feeling the converter.

The no shift at WOT could easliy be attributed to the converter. A good tuner can deal with that bug.
