Default For anyone wondering about if they should use the Meziere flexplate

Do it!!! I got mine in yesterday and it is so worth it... I was really worried about the stock flexplate breaking so I ordered this to know that the power is going to go to the ground.... If you have broken a flexplate before you will know what I'm talking about.. Also, I've heard of ring gears going through the bottom of the floorpan and which was another reason why I wanted to go with a quality piece... It is made from a single piece of billet steel and there is no welding of the ring gear because it is cut from the same metal... You really do get what you pay for... I'll post up pics later but just wanted to let everyone know that was on the fence and there's been plenty of "which flexplate to go with" threads lately... There is no other ones in my eyes...

Here is just the flexplate by itself... It's truly a work of art...

here is a shot of my Neal Chance converter. It is made from all brand new material. It's a beast.

Thanks for the post! On the homepage of our website is Top Sportsman Nova we run out of our shop. It has a 665 cid Ohio Crankshaft engine... 1150 fwhp n/a. The only choice in our minds was the Meziere billet flexplate. It has taken everything we have thrown at it so far. They really are a fine piece, nice to see that sort of craftsmanship.

Just my .02!

Good Luck with the install!

Yup, same reason I choose to replace the 1998 Flexplate. I love our Billet Mezerie flexplate ... when the one in my SS goes south, or I add a different converter, I will be replcaing it with a Mezerie as well.

I was just really impressed with the level of craftmanship that it took to create this flexplate... I've heard bad things about almost every other flexplate including TCI at times so I wanted to shy away from them because I really hate doing something twice...

New question... Is this flexplate thick enough to use the flywheel bolts (arp) or will they bottom out?? If they do bottom out then what did you use George?? I seen some at Kragen that were a grade 8 but if I can use mine then I will...

BTW how's the baby George?? congrats again...

The little one is doing great, and finally sleeping at night. It is a tough first couple of weeks, how is your lady doing?

I used stock hardware, as the ARP hardware is too long. I didn't have time to upgrade the bolts, but if you can it would be very wise. I agree, I hate doing things mroe then necessary.

I'm thinking about just going to check out those ones from Kragen.. They should be the same as the sbc right??? I'll see if they thread in but if not then I'll have to do some more searching...

My wife's doing fine... You know how pregnant women are... "I'm losing my body, I'm getting fat, can i get some ice cream??" they are so contridictary of themselves but that's part of just living with them....

Thanks for your help George, you've always been helpful... I promise that we're going to go for a cruise in my car soon.... I wish I was rich... It would make things so much faster!!! =)

Just an FYI you can use the arp flywheel bolts.. I tried to track some bolts down that were a little shorter but the flywheel bolts worked perfectly... I'll post some pics up later and let you know how it works...

ARP Flywheel bolts do NOT work i tried fitting them, The unthreaded shoulder is longer than the flexplate thickness.

Are you sure?? I got them down to 74lbs and it doesn't move whatsoever at all... I also heard of people using them on the TCI flexplate... So what did you use??

I Had to buy them, they are 11mm arp flywheel bolts for the ls1. They have a 12 point 13mm head on them.

The ARP flywheel bolts work on the TCI plate, but the meziere looks thinner so I'm not sure about that.

BTW, that TC looks really familiar .

Hmmm, well I have to take the tranny out to put a jw bellhousing on so I'll check and make sure but like I said it was tight at like 34lbs and I was able to torque it all the way up to 74lbs without it stopping whatsoever...

I'm sure it does... god man, I'm totally dying to use it... i can't wait...
