Default Used Vig with brown brick like chips inside the packaging? Help!!!

I bought a used Vig 3600 converter off a guy on ebay who claimed to be going to a T56. I called Precision and gave them the numbers on the back they said the converter was built around January 12th 2007.

Long Story short I opened the package to find a nice lavender converter that looked pretty good.

What I didn't like seeing was tranny fluid all over the box and small pebble size chips all over and inside the shaft of the converter. The chips feel like a brick type material...

Should I send it back to Vig or just take it to my tranny guy and let him check it out before he puts it in? What do you think the material could be from?

I would at least have it professionally cleaned.

It's not worth it to take any chances...have it checked out just to make sure it's all good.

Here are the pics see the little chips on the converter, could it be pieces of the lock up clutch? or just crap that fell on the converter when it was taken out?

Well regardless of where the debris came from it is very important that you take the precaution of having it cut open and inspected by a reputable converter shop!

I do on each used converter I install.
