Default kaboom 4l60E

ok so i have a 98 trans am. 4l60E and 3:23 gears. this happened from about 25mph starting from second gear. turned onto rochester road and went about 300 yeds and jumped on itwent from second to first for about 2 seconds "BAM!" (yes my transmission said BAM! in a very excited voice) and the car just started coasting. got it pulled over and went grabbed the tahoe and the trailer winched it onto the trailer got it home took the driveshaft (aluminum) out and noticed i could see a lil bit more of the output shaft then usual. so i take the tail shaft housing off and what do i get. about 20" worth of tail shaft sliding out of the back of the transmission. also later found that the flexplate was busted in a couple different places. and the tranny fluid is about the color of a hersheys candy bar and has a soapy water texture. so i've flushed the radiator and lines got the new tranny ready to put in. how common is it to break the output shaft? i thought the sprag was the weak spot? any ideas.

Well though they can break its a bit rare but whats interesting is the flexplate being damaged to. Have you inspected your rear end latley ? And what do you mean by soapy water texture , Does it actually have water in it ?

I know! Now if it didn't cost $600 I'd have one, thats alittle less than half the cost of a Built TH400 with a brake...
