Driving RMVB on the street?
Driving RMVB on the street? We're looking to get a TH-350 that has a RMVB setup. We're not really looking to take the car on long trips or anything but would like to hit the local cruise spots.
How do you drive the RMVB on the street?
Mainly slowing down, I know you can't really downshift them. Any tips are appreciated.

I drive my RMVB Th400 (no 2nd gear engine braking) on the street quite a bit...it's not a problem at all... I try to not floor it in 2nd and let off without going to 3rd first but have done it a few times. I was told to not go 1-2-3 in the burnout box but i do and no problems...knock on wood.
As far as downshifting, just don't bump it down gears when your mph is higher than the respective stall speed of that gear....if that makes sense. When i am slowing down to make a moving turn, I always go to 2nd or even first just as I would with a manual.

I drive just like RICE ETR said, but my RMVB has engine braking in 2nd. I still try to treat it like a regular RMVB trans though, good habbits. I also do a 1-2-3 burnout and I don't think it is a big issue as long as you shift really fast so the trans doesn't unload.
Same as above. There's nothing too hard about driving one on the street. When I'm coming to a stop, I usually just leave it in whatever gear it's already in, then shift down to 1 when I come to a stop

Thanks for the replies. That makes me feel much better especially since it's my gf's car and she'll be doing the driving. This whole car will be a new experience for her with the slicks/skinnies, big cam, stall, !front sway bar, etc. so I want to make working the tranny as simple as possible.

my orange car had a TH400 in it... i had a pro-ratchet rmvb shifter.. it was SO much fun. i liked it a lot. i drove it on the street quite a bit. having a higher stall makes it much easier to downshift going into turns, or coming to a stop. usually, i'll shift down to first when i'm maybe, 15mph or less... or sometimes i wait until i stop.
