using stock shifter on th350,400 trans

anybody do it? I think Mike at yank said I could use the stock shifter. If not whats a good one that I dont need to cut the hell out of the console?

hmm any that look like stock and maybe has a button for the transbrake in it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> .
You CAN use the stock shifter but IMO it sucks especially if you have a transbrake. If you have a transbrake you have a reverse valvebody and to shift from 1-2 with the stock shifter you have to push in the button. Plus there is no stop from 2-3 either so that means many missed shifts from going from 1st all the way to 3rd. I like my B&M Hammer shifter alot and you can get an aftermarket handle for the hammer with a button on it for a t-brake.

MacGyver is right, BUT, if you have a forward valve body, the stock shifter works perfectly. No modifications are necessary. The only thing is when you are in first gear, the shifter says 2nd gear.
