4L60E Manual Shifting...
Is it bad? I usually just shift it manualy here in town, but just while cruising. The transmission is in a '96 Trans Am with 96K on it and I was wondering if it would mess anything up. I wouldn't want to have to buy another transmission now.

yea i usually do that too but when i got my transmission rebuilt for my 73 camaro the guy said its fine up shifting manually but its not a good idea to downshift manually like you would do in a manual, let the car stop then shift back to one and then keep going

Why bother doing that? You're not going to make the car any faster by manually shifting an electric automatic. If you want to manually shift an automatic, put a manual valve body in it

my car shifts into second whenever i put it in second from first. i can be rolling 5mph in first, put it in second and if shifts into it right when i do it, not when it feels like it. it will also take off in second too if i leave it in second from a stop. but ive heard manually shifting them is bad so i dont really do it anymore.
