Default hmm, problem with FLP tranny

this is nuts, i just got in my monster injectors, spent the last 2 hours adjusting the injector flow rate, out for a nice cruze leting my ltrims get situated and guess who pulls up next to me at a red light? a new f150 harley supercharged truck! i had to hit it, it was in auto 4wd allready so i just left it there and after the light turned green i eased into it, wasnt sure if the harley was going to run me. he did,i waited to floor it till he was starting to pass me. i hammer it and the truck lunges hard, i instantly smoke the guy, but when the tranny goes for 2nd there is nothing there. just like the old days, no 2nd gear.

i am having the same symptoms that i had with the stock tranny, very late shift into 2nd(probably going strait to 3rd) then if i floor it it's like i am in neutral. i have the largest cooler i could find and i just hapened to be logging at the time and my highest tranny temp was 172deg.

i can't wait to see what FLP wants to do, this was their best unit from what i understand, the level IV with the extra 5sprag pinions. i cant believe it went bad so fast and i am no where near the power level i plan on seeing someday. still have stock longblock, no nitrous and only 7psi boost. i think the 5500lb's are what did it in.

Assuming you have the right fluid level and didn't damage it during install, when they don't last a month its either a manufacturing defect that went unnoticed or was undetecable, or a computer programming problem. With your mods, be sure it is not the programming before going nuts with FLP.

no offense but I think there a better chance that the tuning has caused the problem rather then a part defect.

I haven't delt with newer auto trannies, but the older ones used a vaccme line from the intake to help manage shifts under throttle. If you are pushing boost through the line it will mess up the shifting of the tranny. Try running a check valve in the vacuume line to prevent the boost signal from getting toi the tranny.

Hope this helps.

the line presures are vacume modulated and i did install the check valve that they sent me, the only tuning changes i have made are to move the shift points up slightly. stock maf, stock TBI, stock tables on ls1edit(ther than injector flow and shift points)

fluid level is exactly to the top, huge cooler, was loging at the time and tranny temps maxed out at 172.

i hope it was a manufacturing defect.

Please email Mitch@flp2win.com (FLP) to figure things out.

Let me say one thing, this is NOT the way to figure stuff out.

Now, since you started this I will finish it. First you ordered a trans from one place, and they sent you the wrong one by accident, sent u a 4x4 one instead of a 4x2 one. You posted some negative stuff, they apologized.

Then you jumped ship to FLP and they scrambled to get you a trans.

Where is the relationship here? I know Chuck Johnson at FLP really well, since I am his first Level IV customer, have known him for four years. This is not the bitch board. Did you even talk to Chuck yet? I know you haven't. Who installed your transmission, you? Some guy? There are many things that can happen, and you need to go through that list with your builder, whether it's FLP or whomever before you start using our board to vent, when you have not even contacted them!!!!

Oh and I cut mid 1.4's with my FLP and I make 471rwhp/505rwtq and have gone a year with mine, I never hot lap my built trans.

If you bash them on the board, your chances of them helping you out are probably slim to none

next call them and do the bitching over the phone not the net

just my 2cents

chill out guys, i did not bash FLP in any way, they(chuck and mitch) are super nice guys and their reputation is the reason i went with them. i mearly stated exactly what hapened. if these boards are not here to share our experience than what are they here. speed inc sending me the wrong tranny was one of many problem that i experenced with them and from what i hear they rarely screw up so i was the exception.

i talked to chuck this morning, he really didn't want to speculate too much as to what may have cause the problem but did tell my there is no way tuning could have caused the problem. he is going to rush me out another one and not make me send this one back to be fixed till i get the new one, this is great for me because the truck is still drivable and there wont be any down time.

yes, this is the drive train section not the bitch section, i was prety sure the tranzmission is part of the drivetrain. it seems to me how a company takes care of problems after the sale is just as important as before the sale, if i am out of line reporting my DRIVELINE problems i just wont post anymore. i surely would have called chuck first but the tranny went bed late friday night.

Well you are getting taken care of but we don't need threads with titles like this.

And yes we do use this forum for discussions but I see some folks quick to jump on the forums to complain and then their SECOND call is to the builder... We don't like that and we don't support that.
